Welcome to my website.

I received a Master’s Degree of Fine Arts in Painting from Washington University in St. Louis a long time ago. Upon completing my degree I set off to support myself. After working many years in a variety of jobs, I decided to follow my heart and just paint. It wasn’t easy at first. Eventually I got teaching jobs here and there, worked part-time in a gallery, and made a path forward. I went back to school again, for a second Master’s Degree; this time in psychology. I wanted to structure my life to support my love of art, philosophy, and psychology. At this juncture in my life I am able to bring these strands of interest together in my daily work. I am lucky to spend my time and energy working to help others and trying to bring something others may enjoy into the world.

My artwork has taken several different avenues within the past few years. My oil paintings tend to be about color, line and process. Some are semi-abstracted interpretations of places I have seen. Others are less definite. Most of these I categorize as “Unformulated Experience”. They are the place before words where I allow myself permission to enjoy the physicality of the paint and the meandering nature of line and the beauty of color relationships.

My watercolors and drawings have gone the opposite route. They are about simplicity and stillness. The quiet elegance of a line traveling across a page, telling a story. They attempt to say much with little.

I hope you enjoy my work. For inquiries: bethmoga@gmail.com
